There is no such thing as “free” online

To Our Valued LIFE ID Customers and Users,

I want to share something important about the internet that many in the older generation may not fully realize: nothing on the internet is truly free. If something appears to be free, it often means that something else is being taken from you—whether it’s your data, your privacy, or your attention.

This realization came to me during a casual coffee meet-up with a friend this morning. As we chatted, our conversation turned to the internet and how, as business owners, we’ve come to understand that there is no such thing as “free” online. Every impression, click, view, review, or even casual interaction comes at a cost. Companies like Google, Apple, Amazon, and others are constantly collecting data or charging fees for the services we use.

The internet, once seen as a boundless frontier of free information, has become a space where every action is monetized, often at the expense of the user.

What struck me most was the realization that many in the senior demographic—those who are just now embracing the internet and discovering its benefits—may not fully understand this dynamic. They may not realize that the “free” services they enjoy come with hidden costs: spam, data mining, information theft, and more. While they explore the internet, thinking it’s a free and open resource, they are often unknowingly surrendering their personal information and privacy.

This is why I feel it’s my responsibility to inform our senior customers and users about this reality. The internet they are learning to love is not the same as it was in its earlier, healthier days. Today, it can be predatory and unsafe, especially for those who navigate it without a clear understanding of how it works.

My goal is to help you, our valued customers, make informed decisions about how you use the internet. Please be cautious about the “free” services you use, and always consider what you might be giving up in return. Educate yourself about online privacy, use secure tools, and be mindful of the information you share.

The internet is a powerful tool, but it’s essential to approach it with awareness and caution. Thank you for being part of the LIFE ID community, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need guidance on staying safe online.

Sincerely,
Marcus Sassan
